Food Corruption, Food Choices, and Why Things Take Longer Than We Think!

Food Corruption, Food Choices, and Why Things Take Longer Than We Think!

In this edition ofYour Best Life,I share my latest podcast episode on the lies of the food industry, an insight into why things in our lives take longer than we think, an idea to improve our food choices, and as always we finish with a life principle to help live our best lives. So, let’s dive into it ↓

I’m not a conspiracy theorist and I believe that no human is born bad wanting to cause harm or suffering to other humans. It’s all a matter of social conditioning, experiences, and environment as we grow up.

And, when it comes to the food industry and the men and women that work in the food industry, especially at a corporate high level, I still believe this to be the case with the misnomer that while I believe them not to bebad people their industry and the system like many others are only concerned with one thing…

Their bottom line! 🤑

Furthermore, they will do anything to protect their bottom line so they get paid, and satisfy their shareholders.

And, while on some level I get it. I also find it frustrating, sad, and unnecessary.

The impact of the food industry is huge on our health. But they like the pharmaceutical industry, industrial agriculture, and many others don’t care about human health and the more people that realise this the better their health and well-being will be!

Instead, we fall for their clever marketing which is routed in manipulation and dare I say it lies! 👀

However, through conversations like the one I have in today’s episode, where I’m joined by Charlotte Palmer, who is a Health Educator, Qualified Teacher and MD of True Health Talks CIC, we can raise consciousness of how the food industry uses its powers to better one thing and one thing only… their bottom line! 🤑

Be prepared for a myth-busting and stat-revealing conversation that covers contentious topics many don’t want to discuss.

Many things in our lives take longer than we think they do…

Which can set up us for disappointment and to give up when we’ve only just got started.

A few examples that I can think of are…

  • Getting into good physical shape and prioritising our health.
  • Overcoming unhelpful habits such as aimlessly scrolling social media etc.
  • Work-related tasks and projects.

All of these examples take longer than a few weeks and maybe even months to improve or complete.

And, some of them will never be “completed”.

Take prioritising our health, for example…

This is something that doesn’t have an end destination because it’s a lifestyle and choice that we make to better ourselves and our lives.

The key I’ve realised to all of this is to approach it (and life) with a long-term mindset and to see each new goal, intention, project, and anything we embark on as a journey.

Each journey is an opportunity for self-discovery and to see what we can learn about the world and ourselves and how we can grow. This is the most important and exciting thing!

So, the next time you start something new maybe a new project or goal remember this insight and view it as an opportunity for self-discovery, and focus on making a little bit of progress every day which will go a long way!

The quality of our food matters!

And, while I believe that getting a pack of Apples from a supermarket is better for us than going to a fast food restaurant as I’ve been learning maybe those Apples aren’t totally ideal either…

Now, don’t get me wrong I’m not saying to stop buying your fruit and vegetables from supermarkets because if that’s the best you can do, then that’s the best that you can do!

What I am saying is that realising that an Apple, in this example, from a supermarket is of differentquality for one of a better word to that of an Apple from a farmers market or even growing it ourselves and the latter will be better for us, especially when grown seasonally.

I get that it’s these nuances that make health challenging to navigate and can be overwhelming. In my opinion, it just goes to show how far we’ve fallen from what it truly means to be human…

That’s a different topic for another day 👀

My point being and an idea to consider is to reflect on where you’re currently buying your food from, to be more conscious about it, and open to the possibility of other healthier options such as farmer markets, or maybe even starting your own allotment (like I’m on the path of doing)…

If you’re concerned about cost, farmers’ markets aren’t that more expensive than supermarkets if at all and you’ll be supporting local farmers, people, and your community.

A win for all! 🙌

Try it!
