Intro
In this edition of Your Best Life, I share my latest podcast episode on metabolic health, an insight into asking better questions and an idea to help us do so. We finish with a life principle on the art of giving.
Latest Podcast
My latest podcast episode.
We just have to look outside to see that chronic diseases are on the rise. And, mostly down to our modern-day lifestylesโฆ
But, why are our modern-day lifestyles causing so much distress within the human body? ๐ง
Could it be due to living so out of tune with our evolutionary biology?
Could it be down to the amount of metabolic dysfunction most of us face in one way or another?
Or could it be down to a combination of both alongside many other factors?
In my most recent podcast, Iโm joined by Neil Gyte who is on a mission to help 1 Billion people become Metabolically Healthy.
We discussโฆ
- The importance of metabolic health and its impact on overall well-being
- What it means to become metabolically healthy
- The role of carbohydrates through an evolutionary biology lens
- What Neil learned about himself, the human body and the mind through taking on extreme physical challenges such as a 22-mile swim FASTED
- A healthy alternative to Sugar and the scientific evidence behind it
And, as always so much more!
It was a pleasure to talk with Neil and the knowledge and wisdom he shared are vital in us as a species remembering what it means to be human and improving our health for good!

1 Insight To Consider
Thought-provoking insights to think about.
Did you know we ask ourselves many questions every day without conscious reckoning?
And, itโs these questions that help or hinder us in navigating life.
I don’t know the psychology behind it, but Iโm aware that loads of science exists and backs this up.
In simple terms, it’s rooted in the part of our brain which I believe is called the Prefrontal Cortex and is part of our evolutionary design to answer any question or problem that we give it and have.
I like to think of it as the problem-solving part of our mind.
With this in mind, most recently, Iโve been reminded that when we ask better questions, we get better answers.
For example, through my lived experience when I have an issue and consciously ask a question to find an answer to it, one of two things happensโฆ
1.) A stream of ideas flows to me almost simultaneously and with ease.
And then it’s up to me to decide what idea I act on or not. But the value here is that it gets the ball rolling.
And then if no ideas or good ideas, which I subjectively label as good or bad and this isnโt always helpful come to me the second thing tends to happen which isโฆ
2.) In the days and weeks that follow, I’m more open and receptive to potential solutions.
Itโs like my mind (the Prefrontal Cortex) is on the lookout for the answers, super conscious of any and everything that could help!
Iโm confident in saying that weโve all experienced this heightened awareness at some point in our lives. This is our Prefrontal Cortex at work from what I understand!
The underlying message here is to become aware of the questions that we’re asking ourselves daily, and if they’re hindering or helping us towards living our best lives.
This is part of what it means to live consciously and I recommend you start today!
1 Idea To Act On
Simple actions to improve your health & life.
Continuing with the theme of how questions can shape the direction of our lives one habit I’ve started to implement as part of my journal practice is asking a weekly โquestion of the weekโ, which is basically a big life question that I’m seeking insights and answers to.
And, then throughout the week, I add subtle ideas, insights and thoughts I have around the question as they come to me.
For example, this week, the question was, what do I truly desire and why?
I decided to ask this question as I’m in a little bit of a sticky patch of discovering what really matters in life on a global big scale, and also for me in my life.
I thought that asking this question could help get to the bottom of it in some way and have had some cool insights, which Iโm sure I’ll share in future editions.
But an idea to share with you and for you to try is something similarโฆ
If you already have a journal practice, add something like โquestion of the weekโ or your own version of it to help become more conscious of the questions you’re asking on a daily basis.ย
If you don’t have a journal practice then this could be a great time to start.
The bottom line here is again to become aware of the questions you’re asking yourself. Itโs a rather big deal!
Try it!
