Think Clearly (and I’m Sorry)
Intro
Well, that was an interesting week…
I launched my email newsletter (which you know because that’s why you’re receiving this 😂).
I had events and plans cancelled at the last minute.
And, I went to watch the mighty Reds only to be disappointed with a sh*tshow of a performance.
But, amongst all that, I learned a lot, got to spend quality time with family, and got some extra free time that I’ve used to gain clarity on some personal and business ideas I’ve been thinking about recently.
So, an up-and-down week. But isn’t that part of life?
Isn’t part of life to roll with the ups and downs and enjoy the journey of being alive?
I think so. And, through continuous personal growth, I’m learning to cultivate this more and more.
I do have an apology to make though… 😬

Latest Podcast
My latest podcast episode.
Last week, I shared with you my latest podcast episode with Vamsi Polimetla. If you missed that click here to tune in.
Unfortunately, I don’t have an episode to share with you this week due to guests cancelling and not yet having a backlog of episodes.
The plan was to build up a backlog of episodes throughout April starting this week. However, due to cancellations that hasn’t materialised.
I’m sorry.
I hope that you can accept my apologies and rest assured that next Monday you’ll receive my latest episode and it’s going to be a good one 😉
Instead, I shared an insightful post on social this week about the difference between “processing” our food and ultra-processed food that I’d like to share with you.
I believe this distinction, while subtle, is very important. Click one of the links below to view and read the post on your favourite social platform:

1 Insight To Consider
Thought-provoking insights to think about.
On Thursday, I went to watch the mighty Reds play.
We lost.
A terrible performance that I do not want to discuss 😂
But, travelling for 8 hours gave me a lot of time to think about a few things and for self-reflection.
I realised that I’m not an optimist.
I thought I was.
But, I’m not.
I’m not because, for me, an optimist ALWAYS sees the light.
I believe I have optimist tendencies, dislike complaining (especially when something can be done about it), and value optimism as a core life value.
But, I’m not an optimist like I thought I was.
That’s quite liberating.
Because, as soon as we attach ourselves to a label it oftentimes becomes our identity.
Don’t get me wrong being an optimist as your identity isn’t the worst thing in the world.
I found it interesting though because I wanted to be an optimist. Someone who ALWAYS sees the light.
Yet, the reality is that some days I don’t want to be optimistic. That doesn’t mean I’m pessimistic and go all negative. I go quiet. Turn inwards, reflect. Learn. Go again.
I don’t always want to shout from the rooftops about how amazing the gift of life is. That at least in my mind is something a “true optimist” would do.
So, there are a few insights here…
1. I’m not an optimist.
2. Be conscious of labels.
3. Develop self-awareness of what things mean to you. For example, an optimist to you might mean something very different to me.
Can you relate? What does an optimist mean to you?
1 Idea To Act On
Simple actions to improve your health & life.
A practice that has improved my life has been… journaling.
Through journaling, I’m able to get racing thoughts and ideas onto paper. Think consciously and clearly and make the best next decision. I’m able to capture emotions and feelings and process them more consciously.
Journaling alone has improved my mindset, thinking capabilities, and emotional intelligence, and has helped me to become more peaceful (a lifelong journey).
Yet, I see so many people (this is not to judge) who have all these amazing ideas, intentions, and things to do but don’t write ANY of them down.
I’m like… 🤯
Then, I realised that’s why they forget stuff. They have too much going on upstairs.
I forget stuff and journal often so god knows how these people feel and are managing!
It’s not like you have to journal for hours.
Simply writing down thoughts, ideas, and intentions on paper (ideally) or in the notes section of your phone will help cultivate more mental clarity and I believe we can all do with more of that.
It’s what I do throughout the day every day, and then review all of the notes at the end of the day.
Sure, I have my actual journal process too. But have found that noticing thoughts, ideas, and intentions as they come into my awareness and writing them down is a massive help to cultivate mental clarity.
So, that’s this week’s idea: to start writing more.
Write down your intentions for every day, and the thoughts and ideas you have throughout the day as you notice them and see how it leads to more mental clarity and so much more!
Try it.
