Latest Podcast
My latest podcast episode.
Most people haven’t treated their mental health with as much importance or energy as their physical health. Even though, both are not only vital to a healthy and happy life but are interconnected!
In today’s episode, I’m joined by Heema Shah who is a Neuroscience consultant and educator with a combined experience of 25 years. Heema is also an Executive Coach and Founder of Spiritual Sacred Space, a platform that fuses neuroscience with spirituality to support people with their mental and spiritual wellness.
In our conversation, we explore mental health and discuss the challenges individuals face in navigating mental health resources, and how we can all better our mental well-being by developing self-awareness, resilience, and getting support when we need it.
I loved how Heema broke down the mental health support available in the UK, and how to approach improving this area of our lives from a holistic perspective.

1 Insight To Consider
Thought-provoking insights to think about.
I’ve had a very interesting week.
With a few ups and downs.
One important insight I’ve gained during this time is how there is a difference betweenour reality andthe reality or truth.
Let me explain…
I’m confident in saying that we’ve all experienced moments where we’ve believed something to be true for it to turn out not to be the case later on.
But, in these moments we believed it to be true and this was our reality. Even though, it differed fromthe actual reality or truth.
It’s only when we expand our consciousness and come into the actual reality and truth that we realise our reality wasn’t the actual reality and end up seeing the truth.
I often find these moments to be fascinating, liberating, and beyond words.
And what I take away from these moments is the importance of being curious, receptive, and open to other perspectives and not taking ourselves too seriously believing that we’re always right and there is no alternative perspective of looking at any given situation.
This is challenging especially when the ego takes over and runs our lives.
One antidote to this which I’ve shared many times is living from the place of being the observer of self.
This is a practice in itself. And, requires conscious effort.
But, what’s the alternative?! 🤔
To live on autopilot and end up at the end of our lives wondering where all the time went and how we got to where we got to…
Usually, with a bunch of regrets from what I can tell!
No, thank you! ❌
So, one of the best things we can do is to start the journey of becoming an observer of self by asking more questions and noticing what emerges.
We can ask questions like…
- Why am I feeling what I’m feeling?
- What’s an alternative way of looking at this situation?
- Is this true?
And, so on…
At the end of the day, from my young adult life so far our reality often isn’t the reality or truth. And, the more we can discover, find, and realise theactual truth the more peaceful, fulfilled, and happier we will be!
Being an observer of self and the questions we ask can help us on our journey.
1 Idea To Act On
Simple actions to improve your health & life.
If we wanted to improve our physical we would create a“strategy” to help us do so that would include, a training regime, prioritising the right nutrition, and ensuring quality sleep and recovery.
So, why would it be any different when improving our mental health? Or, any other area of our health for that matter of fact… 🤔
Well, it wouldn’t…
While the tides are changing there is still this perception in society that when it comes to our mental health we justneed to talk to someone or if you’re a man push through and “man up”!
There is no“strategy” in place or consideration for what the individual needs.
And, this creates more damage!
So, my challenge to you is to start approaching every area of your health, and in this context, especially your mental health like you would do your physical health and create a“strategy”for improving your mental wellbeing.
Consider, what parts of the puzzle you require to improve your mental health. There is likely going to be some crossover between your mental and physical health because we’re not robots and every area of our health is interconnected!
So, yes getting quality rest, or prioritising nutrition is going to help your mental health. And, so is a journalling practice, or going for a walk in nature tech-free every morning, or working with a therapist and so the list continues…
But, as a training regime differs depending on our goals our mental health“strategy” is going to be different from someone else’s depending on where we are in our mental health journey and what we need to move forward.
So, again, my challenge to you is to create a“strategy” for your mental health so you can end the year strong or just be in a better place when it comes to your mental well-being. It matters!
Try it!
