Anxiety, doubt, and fear often stop us in our tracks.

I know this all too well, being that my natural disposition is anxiety and nervousness.

And, while I donโ€™t like labels such as โ€œIโ€™m an anxious personโ€, which creates a negative feedback loop and identity that shapes our lives, I do think some people are โ€œhardwiredโ€ to be more anxious than others. Some of it is probably genetic, while other parts are formed through our life experiences.

Having done my fair bit of self-inquiry, Iโ€™ve come to realise that I fall into this camp! ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Iโ€™ve also realised that this doesnโ€™t mean it is or has to be a negative. Every trait and characteristic has its positives and negatives, and itโ€™s all about our perspective and how we use our traits to either help or hinder us.

Self-awareness is hugely important in this game.

For example, letโ€™s take my experience of anxietyโ€ฆ

When I feel overly anxious, my mind starts to run wild. I start to think of all the things I need to do, all of the potential outcomes, and how they might not turn out the way I want, and I start to question if Iโ€™m capable of achieving what I want to achieve and doing the things I want to do!

I start to question my worth which subsequently brings up a spiral of negative emotions and before I know it Iโ€™ve been sucked up in this negative spiral.

However, when Iโ€™m able to deploy self-awareness and realise โ€œuh-ohโ€, the negative spiral is approaching Iโ€™m able to stop it from happening before it commences.

Itโ€™s here where Iโ€™ve learned that action is the antidote to anxiety, nervousness, doubt, and most, if not all, of our fears.

Action is what breaks the cycle and helps to cultivate clarity.

It would seem not.

It would seem that we need clarity to act so we know what action to take.

And thatโ€™s true in some instancesโ€ฆ

The famous quote by Lao Tzu sums it up bestโ€ฆ

โ€œA journey of a thousand miles begins with a single stepโ€

Thatโ€™s all we need. To know the next step.

And, in my recent experience, the more I focus on and just take the next step, take an action no matter how small, the more I realise that itโ€™s indeed the antidote to anxiety, doubt, and fear!

You may be thinking, but what if the action/s donโ€™t lead to the outcomes I wantโ€ฆ

I used to think the same. Sometimes, I still notice those thoughts come up.

But then I realised that this is where we learn and grow.

And it’s what led me to create the โ€˜learn and grow feedback modelโ€™, which states that every action we take has an outcome. This outcome has valuable information that we can use to learn and grow.

So if we take an action that doesnโ€™t lead to the outcome we want or envision, it could give us valuable information to what we need to change to get the result we desire and therefore, through this process we get to learn and grow, which I think is part of what life is all about!

I understand that itโ€™s often harder said than done, and thatโ€™s because weโ€™re talking about behavioural change, which is hard.

But, through the practice of conscious living and self-awareness, itโ€™s totally possible.

So, if you are someone like me who has a natural disposition towards anxiety and nervousness or maybe doubt and fear, the next time you start to feel it emerging, stop, take a deep breath, and take one action, no matter how small, in the direction that you want to go before the negative spiral commences!

This has helped me massively. Iโ€™d recommend that you try it!

Brand of the Week

Brands that I use and love.

When we think of health, we think of sleep, nutrition, and movement/exercise as the big three and for good reason, too.

I think itโ€™s wise to focus on the big movers, which these three are, before we get down into the nitty-gritty of health, as there are many paths and rabbit holes that we can or could go down.

I also think that once we have the big three dialled in, although theyโ€™re always going to be fluctuating in some degree because health isnโ€™t static, looking at other areas of health and going down some of these other paths is also wise if we want to reach better health.

And thatโ€™s because, unfortunately, in our modern world, we are surrounded by environmental toxins all of the time and donโ€™t even realise it! ๐Ÿ˜”

These environmental toxins play a significant role in our health. And, not for the better!

Letโ€™s take our personal care products as an example, which play a role in our health.

If weโ€™re not careful, the personal care products we use can affect our skin, which is our body’s largest organ.

Therefore, I think itโ€™s safe to say that the health of our skin matters!

Unfortunately, most of the personal care products we use and put on our skin are full of chemicals, toxins, and hidden nasties.

In fact, Iโ€™ve just been listening to a recent episode of Modern Wisdom with Dr Rhonda Patrick, where I learned about microplastics, which are some of the hidden nasties found in our personal care products as well as in nearly all of the things we engage with dailyโ€”even our food! ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Having gone around the houses, Iโ€™ve realised that there arenโ€™t many brands doing things the right way for human health when it comes to personal care productsโ€ฆ

But one brand that is doing things in the right way and that I use daily isโ€ฆ

Wild!

And thatโ€™s why they are this weekโ€™s brand of the week ๐Ÿ˜Š

Iโ€™ve been using Wild for the last 3 years and havenโ€™t found anything better.
