Nature is Abundant
There is no two ways about this.
Examples are all around us. Yet, many times, we are so busy running around like headless chickens that we don’t stop to recognise them.
I’ve shared previous examples before, from the leaves on the trees to the blades of grass.
Recently, I’ve become aware of fruit trees in particular, and the sheer amount of fruit they produce.
It’s rather amazing how many fruit trees, and the amount of fruit, “nature’s candy” as they call it, are available to us.
Maybe that’s because I live near the countryside… and often go for long walks in nature.
Either way, it’s something I hadn’t truly noticed before, especially the sheer amount and abundance of it.
Nature Is Abundant, And So Are We
Which brings me back to my point:
Nature is abundant.
And we can use this valuable lesson to remind ourselves that we’re also abundant…
Because we’re part of nature too.
I don’t know about you, but when I’m reminded that I’m and we’re part of nature, and therefore abundant too, something visceral happens within me.
It helps bring out more of my best self.
Because it’s hard to be our best selves when we’re in states of chronic stress, worry, overwhelm, frustration, and any other emotions that keep us restricted and stuck instead of expressive and free.
Being expressive and free is our true nature because it’s directly connected to abundance.
Modern Life Makes Us Forget Our True Nature
However, the modern world isn’t designed to support this. It tries to put us in boxes, limiting our true expression, freedom, and infinite nature.
In today’s world, we all too often forget nature, life itself, and therefore that we are abundant.
And just because we forget doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist or isn’t real.
The best way I’ve found to remind myself of this is to go outside into nature and just be.
This, to me, is mindfulness.
When practised regularly, and without distractions (no phone, please), we quickly begin to notice sounds, smells, and sights that previously escaped our awareness.
We begin to raise our consciousness of the environment and experience a new reality.
You might be thinking: But why does this matter? 🤔
Why Reconnecting With Nature Changes Everything
It matters because by reconnecting with nature, we reconnect with ourselves. We step out of the mental prisons we so often build for ourselves and escape the false narratives of society I wrote about last week. This helps us remember our true nature.
And when we reconnect with nature, ourselves, and our infinite essence, we can become our better and even best selves more often than not.
This is at least my experience.
When I’m open, curious, receptive, loving, and kind, instead of stressed, worried, frustrated, or confused, I’m simply a better person.
That doesn’t mean the more negatively perceived emotions don’t have a place. They do.
It’s when they become chronic and our default states that problems arise. Research supports this too: studies consistently show that time spent in nature reduces stress hormones, improves emotional regulation, and helps restore balance that modern life tends to erode.
Returning Home to Ourselves
Nature has a way of reminding us that these emotional states, and even our challenges, aren’t who we truly are.
Who we truly are is something far beyond this: expressive, free in essence, and abundant.
When we reconnect with nature, and therefore ourselves, we begin to feel it. It’s almost like the feeling of returning home to yourself.
Maybe that’s for a reason, because nature, and returning to our infinite nature, is our true home.
And I don’t know about you… But every once in a while, it’s just good to go home.
Key Takeaways on Abundance and Nature
- Nature’s Abundance is Your Abundance: Recognise that you are a part of nature, which is inherently abundant. Examples like the vast number of leaves on trees or fruits on a branch serve as a powerful reminder of your own boundless potential.
- Modern Life Creates Disconnection: The structure of modern society can often make you forget your true, expressive, and free nature. It can place you in restrictive boxes, leading to feelings of stress and limitation.
- Reconnect Through Mindfulness in Nature: The simplest way to remember your abundant self is to spend mindful time in nature. Leave distractions like your phone behind to fully engage your senses and become aware of the world around you.
- Reconnection Leads to Your Best Self: By reconnecting with nature, you reconnect with your own core essence. This process helps you step away from limiting beliefs and negative emotional patterns, allowing you to be more open, curious, and kind.
- Your Environment is a Reflection: The spaces you choose to be in significantly impact your thoughts and feelings. Choosing to be in nature helps mirror your true state of abundance, rather than a state of scarcity.
FAQs for Nature’s Lesson: Why Abundance Is Our True State of Being
How does nature demonstrate abundance?
Nature shows its abundance everywhere you look, from the countless blades of grass in a field to the sheer volume of fruit a single tree can produce. These examples are constant, powerful reminders that the natural world, which you are a part of, operates from a state of plenty, not lack.
Why do I often feel scarcity instead of abundance?
Modern life is often designed in a way that disconnects you from your natural state. Societal pressures and daily routines can put you into mental boxes, fostering chronic stress, worry, and a sense of limitation that makes you forget your inherent, abundant nature.
What is the most effective way to reconnect with my true self?
Spending quiet, undistracted time in nature is the best way to reconnect. By leaving your phone behind and simply being present, you allow your senses to heighten. This practice of mindfulness helps you step out of your mental chatter and remember your connection to the abundant world around you.
How can feeling abundant change my daily life?
When you connect with your abundant nature, you shift away from chronic negative emotions like stress and frustration. This allows you to become a better version of yourself more often, approaching life with more openness, curiosity, kindness, and love. It’s about changing your default state to one that is more expressive and free.
What does it mean that nature is our ‘true home’?
The feeling of ‘returning home’ when you connect with nature comes from reconnecting with your own infinite essence. It’s a reminder that your true self is expressive, free, and abundant, just like nature.
